Actually if I was being forth coming... He was probably wanting to say Butt-dad instead. Ah the tears of your children... they can either rip your heart out or bring you to laughter depending on the situation... and the level of acting of you child trying to manipulate you. I am sure your children have never faked tears over something...
I can't remember what this was about, but as a dad I am pretty sure it involved the cruel restriction of video games, sweets or weapons... and that was just him being jealous that I was hogging all of them at once. :D
Here is the before and after of the image and I just wanted to talk about using post processing to guide the eye and help tell the story. You are crafting the image as soon as you bring it into Lightroom, Adobe Camera Raw or Photoshop... so think about how you can make it better. Adding a little vignette to the edges and adding color pop and brightening the eyes (just a touch... not nuclear eyes) really helps bring those crocodile tears front and center. So remember when you sit down to process, understand what your viewers eyes are drawn to and try to craft your image for the best impact.
So remember when working with eyes to give them a boost but don't overdo it. Most folks will start out discovering that they can whiten and add contrast and then they go crazy. Subtle will win the day, most of the time.
